Kiran Mistry, our representative for New Southgate is running the London Marathon this Sunday (3rd October 2021) for CentrePoint a fantastic charity which provides housing and support for young people regionally in London, Manchester, Yorkshire and across the North East and through partnerships all over the UK. They have been supporting young people for over fifty years; supporting nearly 20,000 young people a year.
Kiran said of his training: ‘I have found training to be both fun and challenging at times - nothing like running 20km on a wet, rainy morning! But I am really looking forward to the challenge on Sunday - the great and most important thing about this is that I am raising money for CentrePoint’
More serious challenges have included running outside the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTN) in Kiran’s local area in New Southgate, and neighbouring areas in Bowes/ Palmers Green where heavy levels of congestion and pollution surrounding the LTNs has made it difficult to breath. The Enfield Conservatives, together with Kiran are campaigning to scrap the LTNs in Enfield so all streets can be enjoyed for exercise and cars and people can move freely around our borough again.
